I think that part of what makes this one of Times 100 best collection is the reason why the man jumped, and his suspended state as he darted to the ground. He saw what was happening to the World Trade Centers and made the decision that he would rather die from the jump than otherwise. This is a man who has just made the decision to die, and his falling is the first time he'll be able to be as free as one could possibly be, knowing that death is only a few seconds away.
